Global Trainers Project

DTP Institute GLOBAL TRAINERS PROJECT

Definition of a DTP Institute Global Trainer is an experienced dance/movement educator who trains and works with a community of instructors in their global region. The Institute is developing personnel and procedures for Global Trainers in all 5 of the areas we have identified as significant episodes in the lives of girls and women: puberty, pregnancy, postpartum, perimenopause and postmenopause.
Movement experts that align with the Institute’s goals, priorities, and movement principles that produce evidence-based beneficial outcomes, but within local methods and in a culturally appropriate manner, are invited to inquire about how to be involved.

The Pre/postnatal Global Trainers project

Our Pregnancy and Postpartum Project is already underway. Using materials provided by the Institute and the wisdom of our initial Pre/postnatal Global Trainers, this group is creating a new profession of instructors to offer dance health programs for this population. We have obtained rights to the Knowledge Base and Practical Materials developed over 40 years under the direction of Ann F. Cowlin, founder of Dancing Thru Pregnancy, Inc. and movement specialist at Yale University. This information has demonstrated to produce benefits by adhering to principles of evidence-based and culturally adaptive practices that develop dance-based body-trust and self-advocacy.
The specific aim of this DTP project is to help reduce rates of maternal and offspring morbidity and mortality by improving health and well-being, and reducing anxiety, hypertensive disorders, the need for surgical birth, and difficult recovery.
